Recording & Transcription

Q: Why isn’t my transcription accurate? A: Transcription accuracy depends on several factors:

• Audio quality and microphone clarity
• Background noise levels
• Speaking clearly and at a moderate pace
• Language and accent recognition Try recording in a quiet environment and speaking clearly for best results.

Q: Can I edit transcripts? A: Yes! Tap on any transcript segment to edit the text. Your changes are saved automatically.

Q: Why does recording split into chunks? A: Life Wrapped automatically splits recordings into manageable chunks (configurable 30-300 seconds) for efficient processing. This allows parallel transcription and better memory management.

AI Summaries

Q: Which AI engine should I use? A: It depends on your needs:

• Basic: Fast, always available, 100% on-device
• Local AI: Better quality, 100% on-device, requires ~2GB download
• Smartest (BYOK): Best quality, uses your OpenAI/Anthropic API keys

Q: What does BYOK mean? A: BYOK stands for “Bring Your Own Key.” You provide your own API key from OpenAI or Anthropic. You pay the API provider directly and maintain full control over your data.

Q: Is my data sent to the cloud? A: Only if you choose to use External API (BYOK) for summaries. Transcription always happens 100% on-device. Basic and Local AI options are fully offline.

Q: How do I restore my purchase? A: Go to Settings → Purchases → Restore Purchases

Q: Can I get a refund? A: All purchases are handled through the Apple App Store. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com

Privacy & Data

Q: Where is my data stored? A: All your recordings, transcripts, and summaries are stored locally on your device. We never upload your data to our servers.

Q: How do I delete all my data? A: Go to Settings → Data → Delete All Data

Troubleshooting

App Not Recording

1. Check microphone permissions in Settings → Privacy → Microphone
2. Ensure no other app is using the microphone
3. Restart the app

Transcription Not Starting

1. Check Speech Recognition permissions in Settings → Privacy → Speech Recognition
2. Ensure you have an internet connection (first-time model download only)
3. Check available storage space

Local AI Not Working

1. Ensure the model is fully downloaded (Settings → AI)
2. Check available storage space (~2GB required)
3. The model works offline once downloaded

External API Errors

1. Verify your API key is correct
2. Check your API account has available credits
3. Test the connection in Settings → AI → External API → Test
